As part of my role here at SPIIOW, never did I think I would be writing a story to post out like this. The whole COVID19 pandemic that is sweeping our beautiful Island – (and the whole of the world) has had to bring quick changes to our front line team members in the event they are asked to attend a person at risk. With the protection of our team members at the forefront we had to add new kit to protect them – with this in mind plans were put into action to obtain this kit.
The face masks have arrived with the thanks to the 3d printing community for reaching out to us to support us by donating them to our team members.
Yvonne Lee – 3d printing community
“We are not doing this for recognition as a family we always like to give back to the community where we can, and on the plus side it keeps everyone busy and feeling like we are doing something, helping those working in the community on the front line during this pandemic”
“When we started this we thought there would be limited need, however we have had requests from all industries which is disturbing,
Danny Woodford – Trustee said
“As a trustee it’s our role to ensure the safety of our front line team members who are still actively responding to people in a crisis by way of suicide. I feel these masks will go a long way in protecting our front-line team whilst responding to those in crisis.
Production of the face masks is a well-oiled machine with Yvonne’s son Stephen who is printing the headbands and has gained the help and support of eight other colleagues in the 3d printing community who are also producing the 3d head band part, Yvonne’s Husband and Yvonne are purchasing the materials and with Stephen’s girlfriend –Danielle helping to coordinate messages and deliveries.
Sarah Adams – SPIIOW
I know I’m right in saying a massive thank you to the 3d printing community across the Island for your support to all front line team members across the Island during this really difficult time.
