On Friday 10th September it’s World Suicide Prevention day. We are using this day to not only highlight the services we offer but to get the very important message out there that Suicide is Preventable –reach out & talk.
Unfortunately suicide is a subject, a topic that will touch the lives of many people in their lifetime either directly or indirectly. SPIIOW as an independent charity who seeks to prevent this in the public areas does not receive any direct funding from central government or local authority (unless grants are available). We are sending out a beacon of help to the Island community both in the business sector and to community groups to ask if you would be kind enough to join us on this important day and help us raise much needed funds, that go back into everything we do in our community. Since COVID19 we have lost close to £20,000 from fundraising and events.
The funds we raise go towards training new team members and undertaking Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of current team members, PPE equipment and maintaining operational commitments with our biggest outgoing cost being our vehicles.
We have listed some ideas on how the community can take part to help us, we would be really grateful if you can help us on this important day. Your welcome to download our fundraising pack HERE If you have any questions please do ask and I will be more than happy to answer them for you.
