Historical SPIIOW Service Remit
Between 2019 and 2022, SPIIOW established a distinct non-statutory community presence on the Isle of Wight across several core functional categories:
Distribution of emergency contact posters, digital educational materials, and suicide-awareness literature across high-traffic Island transport terminals, libraries, and coastal points.
Promoting immediate, calm, non-judgmental presence with individuals in acute emotional distress, coupled with direct escalation protocols to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Police and the NHS Ambulance Service.
Workshops patterned on SafeTalk and informal SuicideTalk sessions to equip Island businesses, volunteers, and educators with basic suicide-alertness skills.
Connecting vulnerable residents and their families to verified local statutory resources (Sevenacres, Isle of Wight Safe Haven, Youth Trust) and national helplines.
