We are an Independent organisation based on the Isle of Wight. We have a front line team trained in suicide (crisis) intervention who are available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
When a person feels that they want to end their life from suicide and when time is the key to survival our front line team will immediately act to intervene. This could be a person’s home address or other locations across the Island and secondly by continuing to support those in need.
Our front line personnel are trained in a number of ways including in-house training and have further training in de-escalation techniques and other relevant skills. Once safely through the crisis our follow up teams will continue to support those involved and will provide signposting and advice.
Our front line team members are made up from all walks of life who share not only the values of SPIIOW but the common interest in wanting to help others in their time of need. The training we undertake is to a high standard and our members need to be able to give at least 1 day a week to ensure that they meet the requirements to become operational.
