“The Gym” in Sandown exercises its right to support SPIIOW

“The Gym” in Sandown exercises its right to support SPIIOW
October 6, 2019 by SPIIOW

SPIIOW – the Isle of Wight’s Suicide Prevention and Intervention organisation has another new community partner who has vowed to support them in the work they undertake.

“The Gym” at College Farm Industrial Estate, Faulkner Lane, Sandown has stepped up to offer fitness support for SPIIOW offering years of experience in a full range of exercise equipment from treadmills, rowers, bikes & cross trainers to resistance machines & weights.

Sarah Adams of Suicide Prevention & Intervention IOW says:

With the need to keep our front line team member’s fitness levels up and in good health it is key that we-as an organisation look after them and  that we have great support we can fall back on when this is required.

We are really grateful to Daniel Parker – Owner of the Gym for this great offer who is very well respected in the “gym” industry and also offers personal training.

 Sarah goes on to say,

The Gym is not just great to keep our front line team fit. Scientists think physical activity helps maintain and improve wellbeing in a number of ways.

Physical activity can help people with mild depression. Evidence shows it can also help protect people against anxiety.

Physical activity is thought to cause chemical changes in the brain, which can help to positively change our mood. Some scientists think being active can improve wellbeing because it brings about a sense of greater self-esteem, self-control, and the ability to rise to a challenge.

If you would like to join “the gym” you can talk to Daniel by contacting him thegymsandownisleofwight.co.uk for more information
